Index síly umožnuje dostat potvrzení trendů jakéhokoli trvání:
- Pro některé trendy se citlivost indikátoru zvětšuje změnšením jeho trvání.
- Pro dlouhé trendy se indikátor vyrovnává zvýšením jeho trvání.
Index síly může ukazovat na dokončení trendu:
- Dokončení vzestupného trendu při změně znaku indikátoru z kladného do záporného a při odlišných směrech ceny a indikátoru.
- Dokončení sestupného trendu při změně znaku indikátoru ze záporného do kladného a při konvergentních směrech ceny a indikátoru.
Používaný v páru s indikátorem trendu, Index síly může ukazovat na korekci v rámcích trendu:
- Korekce ve vzestupném trendu při snížení oscilátoru po vrcholu.
- Korekce v sestupném trendu při růstu oscilátoru po spodku.
