Major FX Currencies Performance against the Greenback - 6.8.2012


The best performing currency against the US dollar in the previous week was the Australian dollar. The Aussie gained the most on Friday after a surprising increase in the US NFP, it gained 0.80% against the US dollar in the previous week. Next winners were the Euro, the Loonie and the Swissy which also gained the most on Friday trading session on investor’s increase of risk appetite, even though earlier in the week the ECB press conference has disappointed hopes of further monetary action.
At the same time the Gold had the worst performance against the US dollar losing up to 1.32%. It fell as the central banks did not ease monetary policies against expectations, PMI indicators drop and inflationary pressures reduced, decreasing demand for the precious metal. Lastly, the Japanese Yen had modest losses of 0.21% and the British pound lost up to 0.81%.
