Markets mixed ahead of US inflation update - 6.11 日

The Dollar strengthening is intact currently. The live dollar index data show the ICE US Dollar index, a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, added 0.1% on Tuesday.

EUR/USD slowed its advancing while GBP/USD reversed its climbing yesterday as the Office for National Statistics reported the unemployment rate in the United Kingdom ticked up while the wage growth came in lower than expected. Both Pound and euro are lower against the dollar currently. USD/JPY reversed its sliding while AUD/USD slowed its advancing on Tuesday with both the yen and Australian dollar lower against the Greenback currently.

Futures on three main US stock indexes are down currently ahead of the consumer prices index data release at 14:30 CET with the yield on benchmark 10-year US notes up at 4.478%. Stock indexes ended higher on Tuesday recording daily gains in the range from 0.3% to 0.6% while the World Bank lowered its 2025 projection for global GDP growth to 2.3 per cent in its latest economic prospects report, down from 2.7 per cent expected in January.

European stock indexes futures are rising currently after closing marginally higher on Tuesday led by auto shares. Asian indexes futures are mostly rising today with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index leading gains amid reports Chinese and US negotiators have reached an agreement for allowing rare-earth and tech trade that will be implemented once approved by president Trump and president Xi .

Brent is up currently. Prices retreated yesterday amid reports Saudi Arabia’s state oil company Saudi Aramco will ship about 47 million barrels of oil to China in July, 1 million barrels less than June’s allotted volume. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) will release its US crude oil inventory data at 16:30 CET today. The US oil benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) slid 0.5% but is higher currently. Brent slipped 0.3% to $66.87 a barrel on Tuesday.
