U.K Jobless Claims Rise to 6.1K, Unemployment Falls to 8.2%, BOE Meeting Minutes - 18.7.2012

The U.K Jobless Claims increased in June by 6,100 as the office of National Statistics reported. The economists were expecting an increase of 5,000 while in May it was revised from 8,100 to 6,900 Jobless Claims. Moreover, the ILO Unemployment Rate for the 3-months to May fell to 8.1 per cent, down from 8.2 per cent for the 3-months to April period, it was expected to remain at 8.2 per cent. Unemployment fell to its lowest since September 2011 as economic activity in UK is increasing before Olympic Games.
Lastly, the BOE minutes of the 4-5 of July meeting were released revealing that the committee voted unanimously to keep Bank Rate at 0.5%. However for the Asset Purchase Facility 2 of the 9 members (Spencer Dale and Ben Broadbent) voted to keep it at £325 billion and 7 members including the Governor voted to increase by £50 billion.
